Maker Is Launching Multi-Collateral DAI, With Support From Several Exchanges

Multi-Collateral Dai (MCD), which is being touted as a major milestone for the MakerDAO project, is set to be launched today and with it come several changes to the Maker Protocol. One of these, per a Maker blog post, is the Dai Savings Rate (DSR) which will allow users to earn interest on their Dai without using other decentralized finance platforms.

The upgrade is also going to include new terminology. Current Dai is going to be renamed to Sai (Single-Collateral Dai), and collateralized debt positions are going to be named “Vaults.” New collateral asset types will initially include BAT.

To upgrade their soon-to-be Sai to Dai users will be able to use the migration app, or simply wait if they hold their funds in one of the cryptocurrency exchanges that announced support for the upgrade. Coinbase, Bitfinex, Crypto.com, Kraken, and Bittrex have all announced support.

Binance Added Support for Turkish Lira on Its Road to 180 Fiat Currencies

Leading cryptocurrency exchange Binance has added anew fiat currency to its offering, as it now also lets users buy bitcoin, ether, and XRP using Turkey’s fiat currency, the lira (TRY). The offering was made available via Turkey-based electronic payments firm Papara.

The move is part of Binance’s plan to offer support for 180 fiat currencies, giving them an easy way to buy crypto. Currently it supports the Russian ruble (RUB), the European Euro (EUR), the Kazakhstani tenge (KZT), the Nigerian Naira (NGN), and the Ukrainian hryvnia (UAH).

Facebook’s Libra Testnet Has Already Registered Over 50,000 Transactions

A developer update released by the Libra Association says that Facebook’s cryptocurrency project Libra has been running for five months now, and that since being reset in September it registered over 50,000 transactions on its testnet.

These transactions revolved around 34 projects developed on the testnet, which included cryptocurrency wallets and blockchain explorers. A replica of the mainnet created for testing purposes, a “pre-mainnet” has 7 nodes in operations, with 14 more In the works.
