Ethereum Google Searches Rise Above Bitcoin For the First Time Ever

Ethereum became the most searched for digital currency in the United States yesterday, rising above bitcoin for the first time ever, in a potential sign that a shift may be underway. Google searches for Ethereum briefly overtook bitcoin in the United Kingdom as well, ranked higher in Singapore more consistently, while in South Korea Ethereum ranks far higher than bitcoin in search trends.

IOTA Token has Record Breaking Launch on Bitfinex, Hits $1.5 Billion Market Cap

At 9:00 am EST, cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex launched the IOTA token. Tradable in IOT/USD and IOT/BTC pairs, tokens for use with the IOTA network are now publicly accessible through the Bitfinex website. After going live on Bitfinex, the transaction volume quickly became so massive that the Bitfinex servers briefly went down. All of which sees IOT slotting itself straight into the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market cap. At the time of publishing, the total value of IOT tokens stands above $1.5 billion. IOTA founder David Sønstebø said:

“Exchange listing is something that has become a hallmark for all crypto projects. It represents that the technology is ready for the open market and the wider audience.”

Wanted: Police Seek Six OneCoin Promoters in India

The Hindu reported earlier this week that six individuals are wanted in connection with an investigation into OneCoin, the cryptocurrency scheme widely believed to be fraudulent. The scheme's backers are accused of duping local investors through events, sparking a series of arrests in April. Shivaji Awate, senior police inspector with the Economic Offense Wing, said in a statement:

"If any of these six accused either try to fly out or come back to the country, we will be able to nab them."

Ether is up 11.62% against Bitcoin at Ƀ 0.1402 per Ether and up 4.43% against the dollar to $385.09 with average volume Ƀ 295.8k on the ETH/BTC pair.

Dash is up 2.11% at Ƀ 0.06624 with Ƀ 11.3k volume and down 3.73% against the dollar at $178.43.

Ripple is up 2% to Ƀ 0.00009282 with volumes of Ƀ 15.4k and down 5.57% against the dollar at $0.2543.

Zcash is up 6.34% for the day to Ƀ 0.1191 per ZEC and down 0.46% against the dollar to $321.9 with an average volume of Ƀ 8.1k for the 24 hour period.

Monero is down 8.56% against the dollar at $52.54 and down 2.29% against Bitcoin at Ƀ 0.01920 on volumes of Ƀ 5.7k.
